What is the range of the receiver?
How close do the keypads have to be to the receiver?
Re: What is the range of the receiver?
For people with less than 50 keypads or those who always use keypads in situations where people are sat in rows of chairs rather than round tables, the below is probably not a concern. You can generally vote from up to 20 metres away with no issues at all.
We wish we had a really easy answer to this question. There are factors that can impact the range. Low batteries in the keypads can reduce the voting range. We generally recommend changing the batteries once a year but it's dependant on how often you use your system, some users happily use their keypads for several years without changing the batteries as they only use them a few times per year. Even with heavy usage it's unusual to need to change them more than once per year.
Other wireless traffic can also affect the range. The keypads use 2.4 GHz just like wifi, so it is best to avoid using the same channel as other wireless equipment using the same range. The default for the keypads is 2.475 which is equivalent to wifi channel 13, so very unlikely to be in use but it's possible that the audio visual team could be using the channel for example. For large meetings, we recommend you liaise with them.
As a rule of thumb, we say for up to 250 keypads theatre style, providing you position your receiver at a height of 6' or more, you should only need one receiver. For cabaret style events, the room will be larger. Again position your receiver as high as you can but also consider using more than one receiver if you have more than about 15 tables. We are always happy to help with planning for large events and can provide information on how to test etc. Best suggestion is to email support@clikapad.com with some information about the approximate size of the room and even better a floorplan. The team will then offer advice specific to your situation.
