When I try to vote with my keypads, the vote box says K'Board

Post by Example User »

I have bought a new set of devices and just been setting them all up on a new computer. I’ve installed the software etc and just about to run through our PowerPoint to make sure it was all working correctly but I’ve fallen at the first hurdle.

I’ve just tried voting on my slides and instead of the vote box saying 0 it says K’Board. Any thoughts on what I’ve done wrong?

I'm sorry that you're having this issue, it sounds to me like the base station is not being recognized. Can I ask if you rebooted your system after you installed the software?

The first thing that I would ask you to try is to go to keypad setup and then go to test and see if the base station appears there. You should see the base station serial number listed in the set up screen. You will also need to set your keypad low and high numbers on that screen, assuming that the base is listed.

If the base station is not being seen by the software, the serial number box will be blank and the base type will say keyboard. The likely causes of that are either the computer not seeing the device when you plugged it in or the drivers didn't install correctly. So first unplug it and plug it in again. Check that the light comes on at the back of the receiver. Then go to the set up screen and check again.

If the base station doesn't appear I would go to the device manager and check to see if the drivers are installed. You should be able to find this under ports (COM & LTP) and then under that, there should be an option of USB serial port - CLiKAPAD (COM) and then a number. If you don't see CLiKAPAD as a device, you will need to install the drivers.

Below is a link to the CLiKAPAD downloads page, where you can find the drivers. You don't need to log in for a ppvote download, just scroll down the page to find the Base Station drivers and download that file. Once they are downloaded you can install them onto your system, you will need to be logged in with administrative rights in order to install.

I hope the above resolves the issue for you. Please let me know if I can be of further help.
